As someone who frequents this stretch of beach as a surfer, a beach lover and community resident, I am absolutely in support of an ocean front park project in Asbury Park.
I’ve lived here for 10 years and have seen the damage storms can do not only to the beach but to the nearby homes, in particular the area around Deal Lake. I’ve experienced tremendous flooding situations, especially after Hurricane Sandy.
There are plenty of other areas in town that need to be rehabilitated, refurbished, and renewed. What we need to preserve is green spaces, especially along the coastline. I cannot even fathom why, other than greed, someone would want to develop this small stretch of land to build town homes.
Please reconsider your position on development in favor of preserving this as a recreational, coastal habitat. Thank you.
I support the ocean-front park project in Asbury Park. Super-storm Sandy has shown how unwise it would be to locate residences at the junction of Deal Lake and the Atlantic Ocean. As a taxpayer I am appalled that Townhomes would be considered in such a vulnerable location. Certainly such a development will ultimately be a draw on local funds when future catastrophies strike.
In addition, the Townhomes will ultimately be detrimental to local leisure business incomes and the general enjoyment of the waterfront.
Very truly yours,
Michael Muffoletto of Asbury Park
I am in support of the oceanfront park project for Asbury Park..
We need dunes and natural barriers to protect the shoreline. This could be a state or county park with walking trail facilities.
Please consider anything but private development!
Sincerely,
Edward Baumgarten
Rebuild by Design has done a lot to make an impression on the people of Asbury Park. I’ve been to two of the events. I hope they get the support that’s going to be needed in order beautify our town.
